The origin of the name of gtool4

The origin of the name

The people ask it to it about the origin of the name of gtool4 well. The 4 of gtool4 is a version 4. It is not 4 of four dimensions.

The file form of GTOOL3 was decided with the GFD-Dennou Club before. There are all numerical value models which the GFD-Dennou Club distributes by this form. And, the tool group which operates GTOOL3 is being called GTOOL, too.

I don't know what was here in front of GTOOL3.

Though there are some various views in the origin of naming of GTOOL, it thinks about GTOOL from having named it as "the lattice point data analytic tool", and it thinks to be wide when G of Grid was probably taken.

GTOOL3 could not but be made a doubt, and a document hadn't been prepared, either, if it was said whether the education of the operation person was unnecessary before using GTOOL3 though portability to say for those days at present, and self-description were taken into consideration.
So, it became the development of gtool4. And, though a name became a small letter from gtool4, parting to the general-purpose machine culture which a small letter can't be used for was expressed as for this.

The distinction of the name

Because it is in being as well inconvenient, it is used with the gtool4 project properly as follows that a file form and both of the program are called gtool4. (It has some variety by Toyoda's caprice.).

gtool4 conventions
The part where the data which can handle gtool don't depend on netCDF in the rule which it should follow.
gtool4 netCDF conventions
The gtool4 agreement seen as an agreement of NetCDF. The item which is dependent on NetCDF is contained, too.
gtool4/Fortran 90
The program written with Fortran90 so that operate or visualize the data that it followed a gtool4 agreement. With UNIX, library libgtool4. This is sometimes called gtool4/Fortran90library though a is contained as a part. It is sometimes called gtool4/Fortran90tools conversely to emphasize that it is not a library but a loading module.
