Ruby-HDFEOS5 -- a Ruby wrapper for the HDF-EOS5 library

Ruby-HDFEOS5 is a Ruby interface to the HDF-EOS5 library provided by HDF-EOS tools and information center. It is a portable C library based on the HDF5.

Usage

Installation

• Install the HDF-EOS5 library, which can be obtained from: ftp site at the HDF-EOS tools and information center
  • DEPENDENT LIBRARY: To install HDF-EOS5, you must first have HDF5 installed.
  • VERSION: we tested HDF-EOS5.1.10 and HDF-EOS5.1.12, so we expect that a version later than HDF-EOS5.1.10 can be used.)
  • COMPILATION: If you compile it from the source, use the --with-pic option to configure, such as

                   ./configure --with-pic --prefix=/path_of_the_HDFEOS5_installation_root
    

    Here, /path_of_the_HDFEOS5_installation_root should be replaced with an existing directory suitable on your system, e.g., /usr/local, /usr (or a specific directory under /opt).
• Install this library as follows:

                 ruby extconf.rb  --with-hdfeos5-dir=/path_of_the_HDFEOS5_installation_root
                 make
                 sudo make install
